By the end of September this year there were almost 15,000 applications for the Vacant Homes Grant, 11,000 of which are approved. There is a 13-month window for completion of work to qualify for the grant. Even allowing for delays due to infrastructure bottlenecks, the bulk of these 11,000 will be worked on in 2026. Rejuvenated empty homes will be a very significant market segment in many counties. In nine counties they are likely to be bigger than the number of new builds.
