Hardware Association Ireland’s (HAI) series of Empty Homes Roadshows went west on May 25th to Ballina, Co. Mayo. The western counties have the highest rates of vacancy in the country, presenting a huge opportunity for potential homeowners.
Over forty attendees listened to presentations by Martin Markey CEO HAI, Tom Gilligan, Head of Services Mayo County Council, Cllr Mark Duffy Cathaoirleach Ballina MD, Caroline Ashe Brady Director Kore Insulation and Cian Begley Head of Homes AIB Galway Mayo. The presentations were followed by
a lively questions and answers session.
The purpose of these events is to stage a collaborative discussion on building an active strategy in rejuvenating homes to bring 40,000 houses to life and bring €2.5 billion+ to our market over 3-4 years. Each to date have comprised highly insightful presentations from experts in the areas of housing,
finance, retrofitting and local supports and activities.
These events are attended by HAI Members, local business owners, architects, estate agents and homeowners. All were interested in finding out more about the benefits of bringing empty/vacant properties back into use, while getting practical advice on how to go about it.
