Smyth’s Homevalue in Enniscorthy was proudly selected as Ireland’s representative at the prestigious Global Innovation Awards (GIA), with the international ceremony taking place in Chicago as part of The Inspired Home Show 2026.
Organised by the International Housewares Association, the Global Innovation Awards programme recognises outstanding home and housewares retailers from more than 30 countries worldwide. The judges described the Smyth’s Homevalue store as “a perfect example of what a destination homewares store can be – a cornerstone of the community it serves and so much more.”
At the ceremony, all nominees were presented with a recognition award, acknowledging their achievement in reaching this global stage among the very best in the industry. The awards formed part of the annual GIA Gala, held during The Inspired Home Show, a leading international event for innovation, product design and retail excellence.
The Kavanagh family has been a cornerstone of the local retail community since the 1950s. Today, Dermot and Betty, alongside their son Jack, continue to lead the family business with pride. They are supported by a dedicated team, many of whom have been serving the local community for over 40 years, reflecting a longstanding commitment to quality service and strong community ties. The store has built a strong reputation for its extensive home and DIY offering, expert advice and excellent customer service, while continuing to evolve to meet changing customer needs.
The nomination followed a particularly successful year for the business. At United Hardware’s 2025 United in Excellence Awards, Smyth’s Homevalue was recognised as Best Paint Store in Leinster and Overall Best Paint Store in Ireland, reflecting the store’s high standards in retail, customer experience and store presentation.
Last autumn also saw the launch of DID Essentials at the Enniscorthy store, introducing a dedicated home appliances concept and further strengthening Smyth’s Homevalue’s position as a one stop shop for home, DIY and everyday household needs.
